CHF held a workshop yesterday for sanitarians from the Banda Aceh and Pidie districts. The workshop is part of the Healthy Markets Program, launched by CHF in response to the tsunami/earthquake disaster, and funded by the American Red Cross.

The sanitarians, tasked with monitoring the health and sanitation at the public market places, attended the training to increase their capacity to perform their roles in ensuring that healthy market places remain healthy. The workshop addressed such topics as roles and responsibilities of the sanitarians, official regulations and standards for sanitation and environmental health, and how these regulations apply specifically to the CHF Healthy Markets Program. Today’s workshop was the first of two such workshops that will train sanitarians throughout the province of Aceh.
