For CHF International, Indonesia is one of our most important and respected partners. While Indonesia is often portrayed as unwieldy and fraught with a wide range of social ills—corruption, radicalism and entrenched poverty to name a few—such impressions are a negligible fraction of our own experience. Much to the contrary, our experience is marked by being witness to tremendous cultural and natural wealth, strident efforts towards democratic reform and development, and a population that overwhelmingly embraces new ideas. In sum, Indonesia provides an ideal foundation for us to pursue our mission— serving as a catalyst for long-lasting positive change among low and medium income populations.

CHF’s commitment to Indonesia is strong, and we are both pleased by our accomplishments to date and excited about our continuing role in Indonesia’s future. As concerns our accomplishments, these are wide ranging and include the provision of: housing assistance to more than 5,000 families; the construction of public markets and other community infrastructure; livelihoods support to micro and small businesses across multiple work areas; community and environmental health programming; and emergency medical care and relief supplies in response to natural disasters. As for our plans for the future, we will continue in these areas and expand as appropriate when other important gaps in development and humanitarian assistance are identified.

While we believe that we are and will continue to add much value to Indonesia’s development, we are ever mindful that our success is entirely reliant on the efforts of countless national partners from local governments, civil society organizations, and most certainly the communities where we work. We are likewise incredibly grateful to the many agencies, public and private, that support our efforts. Perhaps most importantly, we extend our deepest appreciation to our own staff and associated personnel for their dedication, insight and energy in fulfilling our own goals and objectives.
